Over the past 10 years as owner of Bright Life I've worn many hats and studied many subjects. One of my newest hats is as a self taught Master Gardener specializing in the design of Monarch Butterfly Waystations. I've recently studied and interned with the largest butterfly breeder in the country, and my property has formally been designated as a colossal sized Monarch Waystation by Monarch Watch - a nonprofit organization dedicated to Monarch research, education and preservation.

Description

This workshop begins with education about the Monarch - it's life cycle, ideal breeding and feeding habitats, as well as its challenges.

We'll then take a tour of the Monarch Waystation on my property. As we enjoy Monarchs fluttering around doing their thing I will point out the plants that they use for breeding and for food, as well as mamas laying eggs, and caterpillars growing and eating. We may even find chrysalis opening into butterflies!

My guests will then go off on their own to quiet their minds, breathe in the fresh air, and observe all the miracles that abound around them. I refer to this part of the workshop as "Active Meditation" - meditation for people who can't stand the idea of sitting still. There's also a 6000 gallon Koi pond to sit by, and Faerie & Gnome garden to stroll through as well.

All of these activities help us to reduce stress levels, take a break from our worries and re-charge our interest in and fascination with life and living. As we train ourselves to appreciate the little things in Nature many of us learn to appreciate the life we have and feel lighter and brighter about life.

My greatest wish is for everyone to have a unique, one of a kind educational experience and memories that last their lifetime. This course can also be booked for private groups so feel free to inquire.

What else you should know: This course will be held outside so if the weather predicts heavy downpours or temperature below 70 degrees (when butterflies can't fly) - assume the class will be cancelled and you will get a full refund. Where weather is not an issue you can get a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of your booking.

What I’ll provide: I will provide bottled water to quench thirsts - it can be quite hot during certain times of the year. Students will also receive an awesome resource guide on butterflies, their host plants and what they look like at different stages of life so that they can go home and start their own butterfly habitats.

What to bring: As weather dictates - bring sunblock, hats, comfortable clothing & shoes
